Northumberland Hills Hospital (NHH) welcomed its first baby of the new year and new decade at 7:27 PM on Wednesday, January 1st, 2020. The daughter of Brenda and Hudson Scott of Cobourg, Ontario, the baby girl—named Naomi—weighed 6 pounds and 13.8 ounces (3,110 grams) at birth, and measured 20.5 inches (52 centimetres).
“We really appreciated the entire team,” said proud new mother Brenda Scott. “We’ve had a very positive experience here at NHH.”
The couple was not expecting to become parents for a few more weeks. “Our due date was actually January 19th, but here we are,” joked father Hudson Scott, “It’s a pretty good way to start the new decade!”
“We want to say thanks to everyone who supported us through the delivery,” said Brenda. “Naomi is our first child, and as first-time parents, we really didn’t know what to expect. All the nurses, Dr. Michael Green, the Obstetrician-Gynecologist who delivered her, and everyone has just been wonderful. It’s been a great experience, from birth to our first night and today.”
The Maternal Child Care team at NHH welcomed 583 births at the hospital in the past fiscal year, up from 551 the year prior.
